2. Movement by Hot Air
In the 19th century Stove Pictures were a speciality
of German publishers: rising warm air turns a propeller. In Schreiber's
"Hafenbild" ("Harbour Picture") the propeller is the supporter/vehicle of
the motive at the same time. In Engel's "Zirkus" ("Circus") the motives are
fixed on a bushing - separated from the propeller. In "Mutter Ente" ("Mother
Duck") and "Jägersmann" ("Huntsman") the propeller moves a crankshaft
with linkage. Modern designs are the dancing and flying Santa Clauses and
Easter bunnies by the German Atelier GAG.
